While Indonesia is synonymous with coffee, it is also the eighth largest tea producer in the world. Tea was first planted in Indonesia by the Dutch. Most of Indonesia’s tea grows in the Java district, followed by Sumatra. These areas enjoy a tropical climate and the high elevation land has excellent terroir. Much of Indonesia’s tea is mass produced and used in blending. Single batch tea and small, artisan producers are difficult to locate making sourcing exceptional single origin tea particularly tricky. We’ve done the hard work for you and this new-world tea will make for a really interesting and memorable addition to your tea collection.
